Bates County Health Center Reports First Death of COVID-19
The Bates County Health Center is saddened to report the first death of a Bates County resident due to COVID-19. The Amoret resident was a female in her 60’s and tested positive for COVID-19 on April 9, 2020. Although hospitalized for some time for other underlying health conditions, COVID-19 was a factor in death and is therefore reportable to Bates County. Our thoughts are with her family during this very difficult time.
Everyone is urged to continue to take preventive actions to prevent the spread of all respiratory viruses.
Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk for more serious complications from COVID-19. If you think, you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your health care provider for medical advice before showing up.
