Beginning on February 15 at 12:15 p.m., Evergy will begin to turn off electricity to blocks of customers for approximately 30 – 60 minutes. Once the period has concluded, power will be restored to the impacted area. The emergency outages will then rotate to another portion of Evergy’s service area. Power will cycle off and on periodically until the reduction is no longer required by the Southwest Power Pool.
If you are impacted by an emergency electricity reduction, you do not need to report your outage. Rather, check Evergy’s outage map and www.evergy.com/outageinfo for more information.

Extreme cold weather continues to place significant stress on the energy delivery systems of our region. Your cooperative and its power supplier have precautions in place for an event like this. The distribution, transmission and generation resource system that provides your service continues to perform.
The currently very high demand is placing stresses on the systems that deliver your power and many of our neighboring utilities are experiencing the same stresses and have issued notices of possible rolling blackouts. Although conditions can change very quickly, Osage Valley is not currently expecting to implement any form of rolling blackout.
If Osage Valley does have to resort to service interruptions during this time, they would be to maintain the reliability of the electric system. We would further communicate this to you, our members.
How can you help? Simply turning down your thermostat a couple of degrees, shifting the use of your clothes dryer, oven, dishwasher and other large load appliances to off peak times can be very helpful. Peak usage times are from 6-10am and 4-8pm. Turn off anything that is not completely necessary. If we all do our part we can hope to take some of the strain off of the power grid.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri released a new online registry to help people get a COVID-19 vaccine.

The website is https://covidvaccine.mo.gov/navigator/.

Register online and answer questions about your employment, background, insurance, and desire to get the vaccine. You’ll also provide the state with personal information so you can be contacted when you’re eligible for a vaccine.

At the end of the process, the registry will tell you which of Missouri’s vaccine phases and tiers you qualify. You will also be provided with a patient number. How to get a COVID-19 vaccine in each county in the Kansas City metro

Missouri Governor Parson says each person who registers will be notified as soon as the state gets to their qualifying phase and tier. He says the registry will make it easier for people to know when they should be making appointments to get a vaccine.

“Although vaccine supply nationwide is still quite limited, this registration process will help connect Missourians with more avenues to receive a vaccine,” Governor Parson said.

Many counties are having mass vaccination events being held in community buildings and parking lots (drive thru), we in Bates County are working towards getting one scheduled as soon as possible. We are looking towards the end of February for our event, we will post information as soon as it is available.

We are hoping to get a mass COVID vaccination event here in Bates County, but in order to do so we have to be able to provide 10-15 vaccine administrators over about and 8-9-hour time frame.

If you are retired, work part time or don’t work any longer and you would be willing to volunteer please let us know. The MO National Guard will provide many of the event duties but vaccinators are the responsibility of the county in which it is being held.

A mass vaccination event would greatly increase the amount of vaccine that would come into our county and speed up the administration to those wanting it.

Without the volunteers we will not be able to move forward with this event so please share this with anyone you know that is licensed to administer vaccines and you think would be willing to help!
