12-30-2020 Bates County Covid Taskforce Meeting.

We held our final Covid-19 Taskforce meeting of the year this morning. It was attended by the Bates County Commission, Bates County EMA, Bates County Memorial Hospital, and the Bates County Health Dept (some in person, most via phone conference).

At this time Jody Welston reported we had 999 Positive cases, 44 Current/Active cases, 8888 Negative Cases and 14 deaths.

Our weekly cases have surged from approximately 25% to 37%, but these are temporary and random trends.

Release of the Phizer and Moderna vaccines has still not gotten to Bates County yet. Our Health Department and BCMH staff are working to get vaccine for their doctors and nurses, hoping to partner with larger hospitals to be able to get faster access to the vaccine. As you know, these versions also require two applications for complete protection. The initial releases will be going to hospital staff and long term care facilities, with the general public being included in the 2nd stage of vaccine release in the spring or summer of 2021.
