From the staff at Bates County Emergency Management.

We are asking everyone to pause and think before reacting in this current situation. We understand that this is an unusual circumstance. A threat that we cannot see tends to evoke more emotion than one we can see. Rest assured we still have weapons to fight this threat. For example, good hygiene, limiting public interaction, avoiding all public interaction if you are not feeling well, to name a few.

Hoarding food and supplies are NOT good ways to fight this threat. Everyone needs nutritious food to keep them healthy. Everyone needs personal hygiene supplies to keep them healthy. Hoarding may actually make the situation worse by causing someone else to do without. Thereby, increasing the chance they may spread the virus.

Human beings do not think clearly when they panic. If you feel yourself starting to become anxious during this time please seek help from a family member, friend, pastor or professional who is not experiencing anxiety.

This situation will pass much easier for all of us if we work together.
